Mission Statement

Prospect Theater Company
is a non-profit organization, composed of theater artists
from all disciplines, who share an interest in creating quality theater productions while considering the deeper cultural implications of performance. Theater evolved from roots in religious ritual and community festival, and Prospect hopes both to acknowledge this developmental connection, and to explore how theater performance still contributes to the creation of cultural identity.

With this in mind, the goals of the Prospect Theater Company are:

  • TO PRODUCE A WIDE VARIETY OF PLAYS AND MUSICALS which
    share the characteristic of giving us insight to cultures and communities;

  • TO CONDUCT THEATRICAL EXPERIMENTS by developing innovative
    theater production models, by presenting unique interpretations of classics,
    and by creating original works which help us further explore the relationships
    between theater and society;

  • TO EXCITE YOUNG PEOPLE ABOUT THEATER through educational
    outreach programs, and to inspire youth to broaden their horizons and embrace
    independent thought through the artistic risk-taking process of theater;

  • TO FOSTER COMMUNITY SPIRIT and lifelong learning through volunteer
    programs and educational seminars geared toward adults;

  • TO ENCOURAGE DIVERSITY by bringing together people of all ages,
    socio-economic levels, and ethnic backgrounds to work in the medium of
    theater, and to reach out to diverse audiences.

  • TO SUPPORT EMERGING ARTISTS by continuously "prospecting" for
    new ideas and talent, and giving it a forum in which to flourish.
