Membership

What does it mean to be a member of Prospect Theater Company?

In accordance with its mission, Prospect seeks to develop and maintain a diverse group of theater artists from all disciplines who work to fulfill the objectives of the company. This is not intended to be a static or resident group, but rather a network of talented artists who are constantly hoping to incorporate new members and new ideas, who will bring additional perspectives to the group's work.

Membership is a privilege earned by having participated at a high level in a past Prospect production or season of productions. Artists having worked with Prospect will automatically be considered as members unless they express a specific wish not to be so designated. Members have no official voting privileges or decision making power within the company. However, there is a general responsibility to be supportive of the company and its goals as stated in the mission. There will be no membership fees or dues requested of members.

Being a member of the company does not mean that you will be artistically involved in every Prospect production; nor does it commit you to any specific responsibilities to the company in the long term. However, members not in the cast or on the staff for a production are welcome to continue their involvement with the company by volunteering time behind the scenes or as front of house staff, as well as helping promote the current production to their network of friends.

Prospect Theater Company will endeavor to provide a variety of member services tothe company. These may include things such as email network and monthly email newsletter, a standing invitation to open dress rehearsals, and the opportunity to participate in special members' only readings and other events. Names of members will be listed on a roster on the Prospect website, and may be listed in programs or other PR materials.

Prospect will also provide special, early notice of projects and auditions to its members, however there are no casting guarantees, and members will not be given special casting consideration outside of the artistic needs of the production. Members are also invited to bring projects of artistic interest to the Artistic Director for consideration, with no special guarantees that such projects will be pursued.

Being a member of Prospect Theater Company means that you are proud of the work you have done with the organization in the past, and seek to continue an affiliation with a talented network of other artists who share similar goals, and a belief in the cultural importance of live theater. Membership is not intended to promote the careers of individual artists, but rather the overall artistic quality and health of the organization.
